At the moment there is a test running in the port of Rotterdam.
This test is situated on a pontoon in the Scheurhaven at Rotterdam.
This first test started the second half of July last year (2010) and was ending in September the same year. There will be a sequel soon.
The pontoon has a length of about 70 meters (230 ft) and a width of about 5 meters (16,4 ft).
On the innerside of the pontoon a Shipsonic ultrasonic unit is installed with 2x separate amplifiers and 2x transducers. The transducers are placed in a tube filled with some oil. These tubes where glued on the bottom. The unit was continuous activated. There were a lot of algea and barnacles fouled on the edge of the pontoon. Of course the barnacles remained on the surface of the pontoon, the colour of the algae changed from green into grey. This is an indication that the algae is dying slowly.

In the second half of July 2010 we started a test in the Scheurhaven at the Mainport of Rotterdam. This test on a pontoon with a length of abt. 70 meters (230 ft.) and a width of abt. 5 meters (16,4 ft.) ended in September of that year.
Inside the pontoon – which was already fouled on the outside hull with a lot of algae and barnacles - we installed a Shipsonic Ultrasonic Unit with 2 separate amplifiers and 2 transducers. We have already four years of experience with the Shipsonic ultrasonic units. This summer (2010) we have started our own production.
During this season we placed and sold some ultrasonic units.
The period of time of receiving references is too short.
For that reason it is not possible to give specific results of effectivity.
