A very persistent myth that goes around: ultrasonic anti-fouling cleans or removes fouling with cavitation. Cavitation is basically an extremely powerful cleaning comparable to sand-blasting - very destructive. Chiel de Wit explains in this video: you don't want to have cavitation and Shipsonic and all its USAF competitors do not work through cavitation. The actual working of USAF is far more subtle: that is explained in the 3rd video of this series, What is the role of biofilm in fouling? https://lnkd.in/ebUD3ukZ
