Press release: “Ultrasonic Treatment Suppresses Biofilm-Mediated Larval Settlement of Mussels: A Pilot Study” got published
The ‘Journal of Marine Science and Engineering’, a renowned scientific publication, has accepted the article "Ultrasonic Treatment Suppresses Biofilm-Mediated Larval Settlement of Mussels: A Pilot Study".

Box coolers can efficiently cool engines on vessels using only a limited space. But one drawback is that box coolers suffer heavily from fouling and can normally not be cleaned without docking the vessel. Standard box-cooler protection against fouling is copper based. See Shipsonic earlier post introducing a comparative study between these copper based systems and our ultrasonic system. This comparison and numerous research projects have resulted in Shipsonic now being rec

In this brochure Shipsonic gives a cost comparison between USAF (ultrasonic anti-fouling) and ICAF (impressed current anti-fouling). USAF is often perceived as more costly. However, if you consider the life-time of Shipsonic’s USAF systems, they work out much more economical. Of course, there are many other reasons to prefer Shipsonic’s USAF: no through hull wiring, no risk of galvanic corrosion. And last but not least; USAF is poison free and forgoes substantial pollution

Shipsonic attended the Ambassadors' Conference
Shipsonic was invited for the 'Business Day of the Ambassadors' Conference'. Yearly all Dutch ambassadors and consuls meet several days in The Netherlands. On 3rd February Dutch businesses who are successfully exporting can meet the diplomats from their countries where they would like to expand to. Shipsonic discussed opportunities in Brazil, Colombia, India, Hong Kong, Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark and Norway. We got important tips, specific economic (and maritime) experts in t

Coming soon - a video how Dethon takes care of our assembly and packing process
Dethon assembles Shipsonic 's fantastic ultrasonic anti-fouling systems. Our colleague Theresa went to shoot videos of the assembly work. It was an impeccable process, very concentrated people and evidence of the high quality of our products.

Summary of "The Effect of Ultrasonic Vibration on Mussel Larvae Settlement"
A study into the effectiveness of ultrasonic antifouling. The report has been published and can be read online here. Their conclusions can also be viewed in summary form here.

Joined Maritime & Offshore NL as new member
Shipsonic joined Maritime & Offshore NL , the branch organisation for maritime technology, shipbuilding, offshore oil & gas but also wind power and other renewable energy offshore. On 1st December we became a member and immediately on 2nd December we got invited to a great event for ne w members. 'We fell with our nose in the butter' as the Dutch say. We are looking forward to participate in many events and join M&O in their Dutch pavillion on different trade exhibitions as

New Shipsonic agent in Greece
Shipsonic is delighted to start its partnership with GET STC LTD , a company of A General Group, to be exclusive agent for Greece. GET STC excels in delivering comprehensive engineering solutions for the marine and industrial sectors, combining deep technical know-how with high-standards in maintenance, repairs, and spare-parts supply. As you can see on the photo, we already met with Birgit Van de Wijgaart at Europort and shook hands warmly. In the week of 16 to 20th Febr

Microphone holder for sound pressure meter
This is a steel holder that fits the microphone of the UltraTester precisely and is filled with a special liquid. The strong magnet at the bottom of the holder pulls it against the surface to be tested, even in hard-to-reach places. This provides a very accurate and reliable reading of the sound pressure level (SPL), valuable information for the further development of our product.

Wageningen University & Research confirms effectiveness of Shipsonic ultrasonic antifouling
In a carefully designed research, Jacob J. Capelle (Wageningen University & Research) and Marco Dubbeldam (Stichting Zeeschelp) investigated how ultrasonic vibration influences the settlement of mussel larvae.

Test bench for all types of antifouling
Together with Kelvion, Shipsonic has developed test equipment that can measure the actual capacity of a cooler. It measures not only the inlet and outlet temperature of the coolant, but also the speed at which the fluid flows through the coolers.

Bourbon Liberty 222
The ultrasonic anti-fouling system (USAF) on 4 box coolers was installed and commissioned at the MultiMarine Services yard in Limassol.
The system consists of 2 control units and 11 transducers (TD) 80Watt/20,5 kHz/IP76, and 11 transducers (TD) 100Watt/28 kHz/IP76. Control units: MDP10-8 and MDP20-14

Bourbon Liberty 313
The ultrasonic anti-fouling system (USAF) on the 4 box coolers of the Bourbon Liberty 313 was installed and commissioned at the DMC yard in Dubai.
The system consists of 2 control units (MDP10-8 and MDP20-16) and 12 transducers (80Watt/20,5 kHz/IP76, and 12 transducers (TD) 100Watt/28 kHz/IP76)

Color-Hybrid
MS Color Hybrid is a cruiseferry owned and operated by Color Line on their route between Sandefjord in Norway and Strömstad in Sweden. The installation was carried out during the drydocking in Orskov Shipyard during 7-16.2.2024 but completed and powered up some days after vessel’s departure from the yard.
