PortXL invited me to pitch for Superconnectors. It was a totally different format from normal startup pitches: just 2 minutes to explain what your company needs. Then five minutes for an extremely well-connected audience to rain bids on you for introductions to all the big shipping companies. Last week Chiel visited a certain vessel in Norway to replace one transducer (got damaged when changing the swing set box-coolers), and measuring the SPL : sound pressure level for each of the transducers. On the video an observant person can see him working in one of the confined spaces where the box-coolers are. TT's latest post was already a month ago, from Singapore. But really all these travelling transducers are going all over the place, but we so often forget to take the pictures. Now Shipsonic was at the Color Hybrid, Sandefjord-Strömstad Norway - Sweden crossing. We did a few monitoring and measurements tasks. The ‘Journal of Marine Science and Engineering’, a renowned scientific publication, has accepted the article "Ultrasonic Treatment Suppresses Biofilm-Mediated Larval Settlement of Mussels: A Pilot Study".

Box coolers can efficiently cool engines on vessels using only a limited space. But one drawback is that box coolers suffer heavily from fouling and can normally not be cleaned without docking the vessel. Standard box-cooler protection against fouling is copper based. The strong magnet at the bottom of the holder pulls it against the surface to be tested, even in hard-to-reach places.
