Metal fatigue, is it a problem when ultrasonic transducers constantly transfer a high-frequency vibration into a object? While Shipsonic has monitored very carefully on all its installations, even some cases that have been running for more than 10 years, it never observed any metal fatigue. The tube bundles on box-coolers and particularly the thin metal horizontal support plates that keep the tube bundles in place, are thin metal items. If metal fatigue would happen, it is most likely on those parts. But as said, this has never yet happened. We can not know at this stage if it won't happen later on, say after 20 years. Chiel de Wit
