Exploring Offshore Innovation at the Offshore Test Site in Scheveningen

It was great to attend the Offshore Test Site even at Campusatsea in Scheveningen last Tuesday.

Shipsonic got to meet such interesting innovative offshore energy companies, many of which showed a keen interest in our ultrasonic anti-fouling solution. After all, whether you use wave energy, floating solar, tidal or ocean current energy, one way or another you will face marine growth. While many just accept the growth, taking the weight and drag into account in their design, the idea that growth would be manageable and directed to some parts, away from other parts, was a welcome option.

We hope to be able to do tests with some start ups in front of Scheveningen, at the OTS. In fact, together with Roëll Schroor we got the luminous idea to offer the impact of having and not having fouling as a service for devices. Would your wave energy device generate more energy if it is kept clean? or would the growth actually increase the generated energy?

Let's keep in touch: Brigitte Marie-Anne Vlaswinkel, PhD, Bart Velthuizen, Cas van de Voort, Don Hoogendoorn
