The Framfjord is a vessel of just 67 meters long. See photo 1 for aft of MV Framfjord in dock in Stettin. The Framfjord was designed for rapid emergency goods delivery all over the world. The Red Cross ordered the vessel to be built in 2006, in Croatia. It was small enough to offload in all types of ports and offloading locations, such as river mouths/estuaries. It has complete independent loading and offloading equipment on board. It was at the same time equipped to be as independent as an ocean crossing vessel.

FONNES SHIPPING AS now uses the shipโ€™s characteristics to be able to deliver cargos deep inside the fjord of Norway.

Fonnes decided some time back to install an ultrasonic system for their seawater intake system. However, quite soon the vessel experienced engine cooling issues caused by blocked cross-over pipe (see photo 2 as evidence). The costs to dismantle the cross-over to remove the mussel colonies was significant. The harvest was 5 drums of 20 liters with mussels (photo 3). It could have easily fed a 30 person dinner party.

Shipsonic was invited to find a solution. Chiel de Wit installed our patented, welded transducers on both the cross-over and the sea chests (photo 4). We are sure that our transducers will not come loose. If the vessel can make sure that our system is constantly powered, we will definitely be able to keep the sea-chests and crossover pipe clean.

Watch this space for updates!
