MS Color Hybrid is a cruiseferry owned and operated by Color Line on their route between Sandefjord in Norway and Strömstad in Sweden. She is the largest plug-in diesel-electric hybrid vessel in the world and entered service in August 2019.
The installation was carried out during the drydocking in Orskov Shipyard during 7-16.2.2024 but completed and powered up some days after vessel’s departure from the yard.
Seven box coolers on the Port side are all located in the same portside cooler room. The MDP20-20 and MDP20-14 control units are located in the 1030V Blue Drive Room above.
Five box coolers on the Starboard side are all located in the same starboard side cooler room. The MDP20-20 and the MDP10-6 are located in the 1030V Blue Drive Room above mounted on the frames of the hull .
Installation of and connecting of all necessary cabling was carried out by the Electrical Installation Company contracted by the Owner’s separately. Flanges for the transducers were welded in the cleaning workshop of the Shipyard. Shipsonic engineers attended to mount the control units on racks and to install the transducers on the cooler covers as they had been refitted onboard after cleaning. Cable identification numbers were attached to cables and connected to corresponding control units according to supplied drawings.
