The FRAMFJORD is a 67-meter vessel (beam 13 meters) that delivers general cargo deep into the fjords of Norway. It was built in Croatia in 2006. It has 1695 gross tonnage. The vessel has plate coolers and suffered fouling on the seawater intake system, with a non-functioning USAF installed by another provider.
Shipsonic was installed on the steel sea chests and steel cross-over piping. In total, 10 transducers were installed, including 6 radius transducers that were custom-machined to match the specific curved steel surfaces of the cross-over piping. On the starboard steel sea chest, 1 × 80 Watt/IP67 flat transducer and 1 × 100 Watt/IP67 flat transducer were installed, while the portside steel sea chest was fitted with 1 × 80 Watt/IP67 flat transducer and 1 × 100 Watt/IP67 flat transducer.
The steel cross-over piping was equipped with 6 × 80 Watt/IP67 radius transducers. The transducer mounting rings were welded directly to the steel surfaces by the Chief Engineer, after which the transducers were installed and connected. A MDP10-10 control unit was mounted in the starboard compartment of the engine room.
The six radius transducers were specifically designed and custom-machined for the curved steel cross-over piping. The radius dimensions were individually calculated and manufactured to match the exact pipe diameter and curvature. The specific material of the pipes (type of steel) was also taken into account for choice of material for the welding rings.
