Together with Kelvion, Shipsonic developed a test methodology that can measure the actual capacity of a cooler. It measures the inlet and outlet temperature of the coolant, the volume of the fluid flow through the coolers and then, taking into account some external parameters, calculates your cooler capacity in kWh.

In this vessel, we test our own ultrasonic antifouling system. Two measurements will be carried out. The first when the box coolers enter the water clean, the second when the ship is back in service for two years. The measurements will show how high the loss of cooling capacity is, and whether that lies within acceptable margins.

This test bench from Shipsonic is not exclusive to Shipsonic equipment. If you would like to measure the capacity of your box cooler, send an email to info@shipsonic.nl
